KEINE ZEIT, KEIN PROBLEM - LESEN MIT DEM FINGER

EIN TYPISCHES PROBLEM IM STUDIUM: SEMESTERFERIEN VORBEI. KEINE ZEIT MEHR. ABER NOCH UNGLAUBLICH VIEL ZU LESEN. WIR HABEN FÜR EUCH EINE EFFEKTIVE ANLEITUNG ZUM SCHNELLESEN IM INTERNET GEFUNDEN! DER WILDWELLE-TEST SAGT: FUNKTIONIERT WIRKLICH! DER SCHLÜSSEL BESTEHT NATÜRLICH IM TRAINING DER LESEFÄHIGKEIT.. ABER LEST SELBST:

Incorporate other parts of your brain in the reading process and become an active reader. For starters, run a finger underneath whatever sentence you are trying to read. It will focus your eyes and engage more parts of your brain. Initially it might slow you down but it's the first step toward speed-reading--training your eye to track your finger. At the bottom of the page, or every other page, pause for a moment and, without looking at the book, paraphrase everything you just read out loud (or in your head).

If you're curious, the next step toward speed reading is to speed up your finger movement so that you're only consciously catching every other word or so. Stay at this speed until your eye muscles acclimate to the stress, then bam it up another notch.

Rinse, repeat until you are at your desired words-per-minute. Be sure to take breaks so you don't get eyestrain and headaches. Combine with the paraphrasing training so you don't lose comprehension as you gain speed.

There, I just saved you the time and cost of having to sit through one of my speed-reading courses.

Edit: Hey! Didn't expect for this to take off. I feel obligated to note that there's a bit more to the process than that, but those are the basic tools. Faithfully practice an hour a day (taking necessary breaks to avoid eye strain) and over time you should see a significant improvement in speed and comprehension.

Edit 2: To elaborate a bit more, the goal of this training is twofold:

1) To strengthen your eye muscles so they can skim the page more efficiently, and

2) to move beyond "reading" individual words to absorbing blocks of information with a glance. When you first start, you're underlining whole sentences and using your finger to pull your eyes across the page. As you speed up, you stick toward the center of the page and start using your peripherals to catch the text to the left and right of center. When you really start moving, your finger should make more of an S-motion down the page, rather than a zigzag. Instead of stopping every page or every two pages, see how far you can get in a minute before you pause to paraphrase what you've read. Remember, never move faster than your comprehension allows, because that defeats the purpose of reading quickly.

Edit 3: I should also mention that this method doesn't necessarily work well for dyslexics since it relies heavily on instantaneous word recognition, although I personally have seen significant improvement in dyslexic students' ability."
